In the end of May 2009 I wrote about NL Architects who entered a competition for the destination of two of the three silo’s on the Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam. Their plan, which involved a huge climbing gym in one of the silo’s, didn’t win.

Now I can’t hide my enthusiasm about the opening of a bouldergym in Germany, Café Kraft in Nürnberg. After designing a boulder for the Vaanweide park in Rotterdam, Bart van Raaij is involved in yet another artificial boulderstructure-project. Yet another example of an architectural project from the Netherlands where a climbing facility is integrated. The Netherlands + architecture + climbing seems to be a golden combination. Check out this new skatepark in The Hague. Arons & Gelauff Architects from Amsterdam are responsible for the design of the new campus building in Enschede, The Netherlands. |
